Friday – Optional

  1. The UNLV Western Regional AMA Conference Sales Competition - Sales Competition offers the opportunity for students to sharpen their sales skills in a highly competitive environment and provides a venue to network with business professionals, peers and, sales faculty. The sales completion is held as a two round event. Below is a description of the two rounds. To be held, January 25th FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Saturday

  1. The UNLV AMA Marketing Chapter Feud. A fun competition designed after the popular game show, Family Feud. Your team of 1-4 members will be asked a series of marketing related question for which your team will need to determine the most popular answers.

  2. The UNLV AMA Marketing Strategy Competition (similar format as the Marketing Strategy competition held at the AMA International Collegiate Conference), using digital technology. It is a great warm up for teams headed to the conference, and great opportunity to participate for those students not in the national competition.

  3. The UNLV AMA Marketing Analytics/Math Competition designed to test your team’s skills to analyze marketing data.

  4. Branding Competition - A Strategy based competition that is designed to allow students to combine their Marketing, analytic, and creative skills to reposition a current brand or create a new brand for an existing company. Your team of 4-6 members will be required to use existing marketing and competitive data to identify and design the best branding strategy for a company.

  5. Perfect Pitch (similar format as the Perfect Pitch competition held at the AMA International Collegiate Conference), using digital technology. It is a great warm up for teams headed to the conference, and great opportunity to participate for those students not in the national competition.

  6. Forecasting Competition – you will be given the data on a local company that needs your help in forecasting ridership and sales.

  7. AMA Trivia Quiz – This is a fun marketing and business trivia contest for students. The skills are similar to those needed for “Trivial Pursuit” and “Jeopardy.” This competition is always great fun.

Our guest speaker for this week is Mark Sundermeier. Mark is an experienced analyst who is the Senior Marketing Analyst for the Measurement and Insights Department at R&R Partners. While at R&R, Mark has worked to provide measurement insights to a wide variety of clients, including the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority, Western Digital, the Arizona Public Service Company, the State of Utah’s anti-tobacco campaign, Intermountain Healthcare, and many more.

Join us at our next general meeting of the semester! Please note that our meeting will not be held in the SU, but instead we will be holding our meeting in BEH. 

We will be hosting Darrel Evans, from Yokel Local, as our guest speaker. As an entrepreneur for over 20 years, Darrell has a background of success in multiple industries in sales and marketing. He now leads digital strategy for the company and its clients in the areas of online lead generation and conversion. Yokel Local is a rising inbound marketing agency focused in turning data into valuable business insights.
